The customer was recommended TNS Groundworks by their next-door neighbour whose driveway we completed a few years prior. They required a half wraparound from their driveway to the front of the house. We created a driveway at a slight angle to make sure any surface water ran off and collected in an installed soakaway.
Having only lived in Chippenham for a short time, we wanted to find someone to replace the old paving slab and gravel parts of our drive. Our neighbour suggested TNS Ground Works, as Terry had installed block paviours for them about 5 years previously and they still looked perfect.
We are so glad we chose TNS, Terry came and discussed our requirements and made some suggestions on what he would do.
What a hardworking guy he is, all the work was done to the highest standard. The preparation of the ground was thorough and ensured the blocks would have a perfect base on which to be laid.
Terry inserted drainage to take some of the surface water into a soakaway and also replaced a couple of the manhole covers with new ones into which the blocks could be placed.
Terry’s working practices are exemplary. At the end of each day, he tidied and cleaned the site so we could still have access to the property. Any waste and excavated materials were removed from the site as soon as could be arranged.
Throughout the project Terry also took the time to explain what he had done that day and what he planned to achieve next.
Despite a couple of unexpected minor issues during the preparation and some additional work we asked to be done, Terry completed the project within the planned timescales.

We were contacted to create a driveway and an entrance to the house that was more accessible for the customer. This was an unusual project for TNS Groundworks to carry out, as it is not the norm to do this large driveway in York Cobbles.
The customer contacted TNS Groundworks as they were having a major issue with water regression that was collecting in a field located by their property which was flooding the driveway and the neighbour’s property every time it rained heavily.
The solution, TNS Groundworks dug trenches and filled them with non-compactible stone to collect the rain water. We used Cotswold’s buff chippings on the driveway and also created a block paving area.
Our drive over the years had become very compacted, consequently drainage of surface water had become something of a problem.
Having decided to renew the drive TNS submitted a very competitive quote. The work was carried out efficiently and despite the quantity of material being involved TNS took great care to ensure that there has been little or no impact on the adjacent lawns. What was appreciated was that Terry Stanislas kept us informed of progress.
We are very pleased with the result and a year later the drive remains in excellent condition. Despite all the wet weather we had had in 2021 the measures (i.e. soakaways) which were implemented has meant that we longer have problems with surface water.
We should certainly ask TNS Groundworks to carry out work elsewhere on our property should the need arise.

TNS Groundworks used Indian Sandstone in sunset buff, to create a beautiful patio and seating area for the customer to enjoy the sunniest spot in their garden.
Terry of TNS Groundworks laid a patio, built an arbour (which came without instructions) and replaced a front gate and fencing in our back garden. Terry was excellent at explaining the process and advising on what was needed or what to change during the builds due to the land conditions.
We had faith that he was an expert and were delighted with how he put concrete against edges to stop water destabilising it. Our 10-year warranty is piece of mind for the future.
